Lithai Guest House

73/1-5 Phayalithai Road

250 baht per night (per double room, private bathroom).

21st September '11 for 1 night, and 5th October '11 for 1 night.

I'd call this a hotel as opposed to a hostel or a guest house, but whatever you call it, it's extremely nice for the price. Travelling with a buddy and you can get a double room at 125 baht each (there are no single rooms, and it was a double bed so make sure that you're close). But even alone as I was, this place still provides pretty decent value for money. More expensive rooms are available with AC, but I found the included floor fan to be more than sufficient to keep me cool. The double bed was pretty hard as is standard in Thailand, and not completely clean. But no bed bugs and I had a great nights sleep on it. The en suite bathroom included a Western toilet and a heated shower. And they had decent wi-fi throughout the entire property so you can make the most of the desk and swivel-chair included in the room. The room was large, but if you did require storage space there was a small closet. And I didn't use it so can't give feedback, but there was also a TV. Locationally it's five minutes walk from the train station, and the very impressive and highly recommended market is around three minutes away. I really liked this place. Like I said, it's a hotel. So not a place to come and meet people. But aside from that, it was mainly very clean, the staff were very friendly, the location was spot-on, and it's always a big beef of mine if a place doesn't have good wi-fi. This place does and I was able to get a lot of online work done (although accessing certain sites like hotmail.com and, ahem, redtube.com required work-arounds as I found I'd be automatically redirected from the home pages. Which was slightly annoying).
